Barr said.

“In today’s society, our heavy reliance on electronic and wireless communications makes us vulnerable to professional cyber thieves that threaten to steal identities and assets,” said (ISC)2 President and Interim CEO Rolf Moulton. “Just as police officers protect our streets, qualified, highly trained information security professionals are critical to protecting us against the cyber attacks that jeopardize our economies and way of life.”

The CISSP®, the first and only ANSI-accredited information security credential under ISO/IEC Standard 17024, provides information security professionals with not only an objective measure of competence, but a globally recognized standard of achievement. The CISSP® credential is awarded by (ISC)² to information security professionals who successfully pass a comprehensive six-hour examination based on the 10 domains of the (ISCCISSP® CBK®, a compendium of industry best practices, possess four years of cumulative work experience in the field, subscribe to the (ISC)² Code of Ethics, and are endorsed by an existing CISSP® or equivalent professional. They must earn 120 continuing professional education (CPE) credits every three years in order to renew their certification.

“The CISSP® is the Gold Standard of information security certifications. Mr. Barr can be proud to have met the stringent requirements of the CISSP®, added Moulton. “(ISC)² is pleased to add Mr. Barr to a distinguished group of more than 45,000 fellow CISSPs worldwide.”
